**We are encouraged to attend the temple during Stake Temple Week. Specifically, the temple presidency will be speaking prior to the 7:45 pm session on Feb 2nd. Be ready to go at 7:30 pm and be sure to tell the chapel helpers. They will send you to the marriage waiting room.

We are collecting hygiene items listed on the small handouts in the notebooks. Please take a copy for your own reference. (This will be ongoing until further notice.) Items may be brought to Church on Sunday or left on the doorsteps (in a plastic bag) of committee members: Marta Dorner 801 785-8646, Marta Valdizan 801 796-6073, Connie Sorenson 801 796-9627, or Mary Jane Johnson 801 796-7449. Thanks! The items are new hand towels, not kitchen towels (approx. 15” x 25”), large tube toothpaste, adult and child toothbrushes (sealed), large bars of bath soap, large unbreakable combs (no points), shampoo, men’s and women’s deodorant, disposable razors, and toilet paper. These items will be donated to the Food Bank.

Shanden Hoffman’s Eagle Project
My name is Shanden Hoffman and I am doing an Eagle Project for the Road Home homeless shelter in SLC. I will be collecting and gathering any articles of warm clothing and blankets (all sizes of coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, blankets, and scarves). I will also accept monetary donations which will all go towards purchasing any of the items above. The Road Home will accept all gently used clothing (no rips, tears, broken parts, all in good working condition). I will gladly accept any clothing donations at my home at 928 E. 110 S. in Lindon. I am soon going to be putting out flyers that will give all of the information on when I am collecting and again the items that I will accept. The Road Home has helped many people and now it is our chance to help. Thanks so much for your support!

UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A SALE. WE ARE SORRY THAT NOT EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE BECAUSE WE MAY RUN OUT OF PRODUCT BEFORE WE REACH YOUR REQUEST. Chicken: 40 cases ($44.40/case of 24 cans)
Pork: 250 cases ($57.60/case of 24 cans)
Blueberries: 93 boxes ($60.00/30 lb box)
Raspberries: 239 boxes ($30.00/20 lb box)

WE HAVE NO CONTROL OF HOW MUCH TIME IT TAKES YOUR SERVER TO RECEIVE OR DELIVER THE EMAIL. PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL TO COMPLAIN THAT YOU DIDN’T RECEIVE YOUR EMAIL IN ENOUGH TIME TO PARTICIPATE.

Please note the following requests:

1)    We ask that if you were able to purchase berries from the family canning opportunity, you do not order more berries. Please let those who didn’t get any berries have an opportunity to do so. We will not monitor this. It will be on an honor system.

2)    Please only order what you are positive you will purchase.

3)    Please have a back-up plan in case of conflicts with the 9am – 1pm pick-up times on Thursday, December 15th. We will not extend the pick-up times, we will just contact the next person on the email list to get rid of any unclaimed product.

4)    Do not send more than one email.

5)    Do not put more than one order per email. We will only take the first order on the email.

6)    Last minute email addresses are not guaranteed to get put on the distribution list before the email is sent.

7)    You will be limited to 5 items (cases and/or boxes) per order.
(example: 1 chicken + 1 pork + 2 blueberries + 1 raspberry = 5 items OR 5 raspberries = 5 items)

Here is how it will work:

1)    An email will be sent tomorrow, December 14th at approximately 10:00 a.m. to our entire distribution list (9200+ people). It will outline the information you MUST include in your request to purchase overage product. Incomplete emails will be skipped.

2)    You MUST reply to the email sent tomorrow (just like replying to an email from a friend: Click on “Reply” and type your response.) Any emails received prior to our sending this email will be deleted from our Inbox.

3)    We will go in order of received emails. If we reach your email before we run out of product, you will receive a reply to your request by the end of the day, telling you what you will be able to purchase.

4)    You must come to the Cannery on Thursday, December 15th between 9am and 1pm to pick up your product. You can send someone to pick up for you. If paying with a check, the check must be from the person who placed the order. If using a credit card, it will not matter whose card pays for the order. If you are using cash, please bring correct payment—including change.

5)    YOU WILL NOT GET A REPLY EMAIL FROM US IF YOU DO NOT GET TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OVERAGE SALE.

We will be decorating a Christmas tree for a family at the RS Monthly meeting December 7th. It will be delivered that evening. If you have extra ornaments, bring them. The more, the merrier! This will be a fun and relaxing evening with lots of Christmas spirit and cheer. There will be a true white elephant exchange, so bring a wrapped unwanted, silly, tacky etc. gift to exchange.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the ward Christmas party. It was so delightful. The food, the decorations, the program—just perfect!

WARNING of changes in Eagle leadership requirement. Starting in December 2011, the Eagle Scout leadership requirement is changing. From December onward, the leadership on an Eagle application form must correlate with the Unit (age group) the boy is registered in. This means a young man who met the leadership requirements in the Troop, but waits to finish his Leadership Project or Application, will need to serve 6 months in a leadership capacity in his Team or Crew if that is when he is submitting his paperwork. If your boy is practically complete with his project, then completing it before December may be a priority for him.
It’s still pretty early in the month. Go ahead and get those visiting teaching appointments set up.

FYI—Stake Youth Conference is March 2-3rd, 2012.

The Cub Scout Cake Auction will be October 26th, this Wednesday at 7:00 pm.. Plan on helping your cub scouts make a cake to auction off. Everyone is invited to come and support our cub scouts. And anyone is welcome to donate items to auction. Thanks for supporting the Cub Scout program.

RS Monthly Meeting will be held Wednesday, November 2nd, at 7:00 pm. Dinner will be served. (See signups). There will ideas for getting your summer garden ready for winter. Come and learn how to force bulbs, so you can enjoy tulips inside during the winter. And find out how to make tasty and healthy kale chips. To help the Young Women get ready to make gingerbread houses for the Festival of Trees, bring various types of candy, cereal, etc. which can be used to decorate.

Ward choir is in full swing getting ready for the holidays. Come and join us today for practice (3:00 p.m. at the Sorensen’s home – 975 E. Center St.). Sisters, please help motivate the musical men and boys in your homes. We could really use more male voices!

Thanks to everyone (especially Karen Smith, Jocelyn Rodgers, and the Enrichment committee) who participated in Ladies’ Night Out on Friday. All of the classes were great and the treats were so tasty!! Many of us had the same issue—so many choices and so little time!! It was a great evening.

It’s already “the most wonderful time of the year” (for our ward choir), so bring your friends and family members to choir practice and let’s make this a musical season to remember. Same time (3:00 p.m. Sundays), same place (Sorensen’s basement – 975 E. Center St.). We’re just starting on our Thanksgiving and Christmas music so now’s a great time to get in on the fun!

Not only that, but there will be a bring and swap for stuff you don’t want and for stuff you do want. Save your unneeded items and bring for someone else to use. Ward Choir! The calendar may say September but for the ward choir, Christmas is right around the corner! Now meeting at a new time (3:00 p.m.) but in the same place (Sorensen’s basement – 975 E. Center St.) and sporting a new director (Lisa Harris), the fun is definitely back with Christmas preparations already underway. Everyone is welcome! (No practice today or next week. Next practice will be on Oct. 9.) Many thanks to our former director, Marilee Olson, for her wonderful direction and encouragement!

Cut 2 outer pieces and 2 lining pieces. Mark notches.

Puffy: Fold pleat along fold line matching dotted lines. Stitch 1/2" inwards along dotted line. Fold the two pleats inwards and baste close to edge. Repeat for other side of purse and for both lining pieces.

Sew the lining pieces, RS together, with a 1/4" seam allowance along bottom curve, leaving the top open. Repeat for outer pieces.

Clip the curves so that the piece turns nicely.

Turn the outer piece RS out and finger-press the seam to let the piece find its shape.

Insert lining into the outer purse, WS togeter, and with a small zig-zag, stitch along raw top edge attaching the outer piece to the lining.

How cute is that?!? Now make a few more, or wait until we meet on October 14 to add the frame to your purse!

The Annual Ward Family/Neighborhood picnic is tomorrow night. Check the RS binder to remind yourself what you signed up to bring. Come enjoy friendship and food at 6:30 pm at Canyon View Park in Provo Canyon on the north side of the road. If you get to Canyon Glen Park, you went too far.

If you want to sign up to help the cannery with peaches, it’s not too late. A signup went around in Sunday School today. Check with Robbi Ann for scheduled times.

The Lindon Senior Center is now open. Hours are 9am-3pm Mon-Fri. Lunch is served M,W,Fr and is free for people 60 and up. (Donations appreciated.) Reservations required. Go to www.lindoncity.org. Classes are beginning and are mostly free. There is also exercise equipment which can be used when the center is open.

(Please read this email carefully. This is not the sign-up. It is an opportunity to understand how things will work. We hope this helps to minimize the stress of signing up. This should also give you time to plan your order. Please remember that the Cannery wants to work at its full capacity. If you don’t want all of your cases, plan ahead and offer them to someone else. One person can get 4 cases for working a shift.)

We’ve had several phone calls from people anticipating the next family canning opportunity. This email is to let you know that we are preparing to sign-up for chicken and pork chunks. We will send the links for the actual online sign-ups on September 9th, but we wanted you to have an opportunity to look things over before then.

The instructions below are a copy of those that are currently on the online sign-up. Now is the time to read them carefully to understand what you would be agreeing to if you participate in this opportunity:

1) I AGREE to work at the Lindon Cannery for a 2.5 hour shift on October 11, 12, 13, 14, 18 or 19.

2) I AM ABLE to purchase up to a combined total of 4 cases of Canned Meat (example: 3 chicken + 1 pork= 4 cases)

Chicken Chunks: $44.40/case of 24, 14.5 oz cans

3) I UNDERSTAND that I (or someone I have arranged with) will have to return on November 8th, 9th, or 10th between 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, to pick up and pay for my meat.

4) I UNDERSTAND that if I do not pick up my meat during dates listed above, the Lindon Cannery has the right to sell my order to someone else, making it unavailable to me.

To schedule a shift:

1) Scroll down, past these instructions, to find the sign-up table.
2) Click on a box that says “Available” located in a COLUMN (time of day) that you are available to work.
- Your shift begins at the time indicated at the top of the column.
- You should arrive 15 minutes before this time so the shift can begin on time.
- A shift is full if there are no boxes that say “Available” on the table. Empty boxes are
places that are not being scheduled on a particular shift.
- Write down the ROW (Worker #) and COLUMN (shift time) when you are scheduling.
3) Enter the required information and click on the “Schedule this shift” button to complete your registration.
Please verify all information and write down your time (column header), Patron # (row header) and UNDO code (case sensitive) BEFORE hitting the “Schedule This Shift” button. You cannot go back and verify what you entered without UNDOing and rescheduling your shift.

TODAY—Ward Choir practice at Bob and RobbiAnn Sorensen’s home at 1:30 pm. Pres. Rogers asked the 11th ward choir to sing at the Saturday night session of Stake Conference, Aug 20th. Today’s practice is the one time to prepare to sing a choir favorite, “Saints Behold How Great Jehovah”. Youth choir members are invited to sing at the meeting and will be able to leave right after we sing. (probably by 7:15 pm) It’s never too late to join the ward choir!!

There is a 15 year old boy from Mexico who is looking for a family who would be willing to host him for 4 months. He would like to go to school here for one semester. If anyone is interested, contact Sunday Horman for more details. 801 318-7493.

School Bag Project ends September 1st. Thank you for responding so well to our school bag project. We especially appreciate (Karen’s daughter) Shannon Smith’s sewing a lot of our bags—the red ones—so please give her a big thank you when you see her! We have another 15 or so bags that need to be filled and now is the time since items are low-priced! Remember, when these are filled, we won’t be sewing any more bags. Please give them to Marta D., Marta V. or Mary Jane (as Connie will be out of town) before September 1st.
Our next project is Hygiene Kits. Please take a hand-out that is in the RS notebooks. Read it carefully and turn in COMPLETED KITS only! Label the bags with masking tape and your name. Since this is a family project, we will send around a sign-up sheet for the estimated number of kits your family plans to donate by the end of October. We have set a minimum goal of 500 from our ward. (That’s just a dent in a disaster.) Questions? Call Mary Jane, 801 796-7449. Again, we thank you for your helping hands!
FYI: If you donate money under humanitarian aid on the tithing slip, it automatically goes to church headquarters in Salt Lake. Some have thought the money remained in our ward. Not so. Just so you know.

School Bag Project ends September 1st. Thank you for responding so well to our school bag project. We especially appreciate (Karen’s daughter) Shannon Smith’s sewing a lot of our bags—the red ones—so please give her a big thank you when you see her! We have another 15 or so bags that need to be filled, and now is the time since items are low-priced! Remember, when these are filled, we won’t be sewing any more bags. Please give them to Marta D., Marta V. or Mary Jane (as Connie will be out of town) before September 1st.
Our next project is Hygiene Kits. Please take a hand-out that is in the RS notebooks. Read it carefully and turn in COMPLETED KITS only! Label the bags with masking tape and your name. Since this is a family project, we will send around a sign-up sheet for the estimated number of kits your family plans to donate by the end of October. We have set a minimum goal of 500 from our ward. (That’s just a dent in a disaster.) Questions? Call Mary Jane, 801 796-7449. Again, we thank you for your helping hands!
FYI: If you donate money under humanitarian aid on the tithing slip, it automatically goes to church headquarters in Salt Lake. Some have thought the money remained in our ward. Not so. Just so you know.

We have several sewn school bags that are now being passed out each Sunday to sisters who want to fill them (about 20). A list of the needed items is in each empty bag. Several more are being sewn (another 20?). This project will run through the summer months and into the beginning of school while the needed items are less expensive to buy. SIGN UP NOW! The bags will be passed out until we run out of them. (We won’t cut/sew any more than we already have!) The official end of the project is Sunday, September 25.

Humanitarian News
Church-wide needs: “The current needs at the LDS Humanitarian Center include girls’ dresses, sizes 2-6 and 10-16.”
These should be practical, washable, and in new/nearly new condition. Please check seams, buttons, zippers, snaps, cleanliness etc. If you need help with the mending, let us know. Simple dresses are easy to sew. I have several patterns; call me (MJ). Many of you are probably cleaning out closets about now so it would be a good time to get these items together to donate to DI. Items may be dropped off at any of our homes (Mary Jane, Marta V, Marta D, Connie S) or brought to church.
Local news: By the way, be on the lookout for school bag items. Prices should be getting more reasonable. We will be handing out the bags and sending around a sign-up sheet for participation later in the summer! Remember, items are pencils, erasers, colored pencils, small pencil sharpener, scissors, 12” metric ruler, and glued/spiral bound notebooks @450 pages.

Jam and Salsa!

Several shifts are still available for Salsa. Because of the number of open shifts, we have cancelled Thursday, June 16th and have asked all who are scheduled on that day to reschedule their shift.

If you are still interested in registering for salsa, the links for registering are at the end of this email. For those who are new to the online registration process, please carefully read the instructions found at the top of each sign-up. If you still have questions after reading the instructions, please feel free to call the Cannery at 801-785-0998. Make sure to be at your computer and have this email open so we can quickly walk you through the process.

After the large number of no-shows and cancellations on Jam, we are reviewing several facets of scheduling family canning--including offering fewer days per product. In trying to meet the implied demand for Jam, we continued to add more days to our schedule. Every day was full so we ordered enough product to fill those days. When it came time to produce the jam, we had an inordinate number of cancellations and no shows. Some shifts were missing up to half of the needed patrons. We schedule the exact number of patrons needed to efficiently produce the product so, we are counting on every person who signs up. We need you to be as committed to being here as we are to providing the opportunity for you to come.

Please help us by reviewing the following concerns:

When you schedule a shift, it is your responsibility to write down the date, time, your UNDO code and patron# so you can responsibly supervise your own sign-up.

-Some said they couldn’t UNDO their shift because they couldn’t find their name listed.

You can always call the Cannery for help. We may remind you of your responsibility to write down your scheduling information, but we will help you.

-Some said they didn’t receive a reminder of their shift so they forgot to come.

Reminders were sent on April 28th , but they are only sent as a courtesy. This is never a valid reason for missing your shift. The fact that some did not receive the reminder is beyond our control. This is why you need to write down your scheduling information when you sign up.

-Some said they didn’t know how to contact us to cancel once the signup became inactive.

The Cannery’s phone number is given several times in the emails we send during Family Canning signups. You are asked to keep all of the emails we send until after you finish your shift. Please add our number (801-785-0998) to the contact information on your computer or cell phone so it is readily available to you as well. We will try to remember to put the phone number on each sign-up as well.

Do not use the email system to cancel your shift once the signup has become inactive.

Because we are busy trying to carry out the details prior to and during family canning, we are not able to monitor the emails as closely as we do during registration. We need to know as soon as possible that you will not be coming to your shift so we know what is available to those still trying to get registered. If no one is available to take your call, you are always welcome to leave a message. Our missionaries are very good about checking the phone messages between shift check-ins.

Please understand that the Lindon Cannery is very willing to offer Family Canning opportunities. We hope this is evident in how we are always trying to improve your experience when coming to participate. However, in order to utilize the Cannery’s facilities effectively, we need you to place a high priority on managing your sign ups so we can keep our shifts full and ready to work. Please let us know if there has been any oversight on our part in providing these opportunities.

Jam openings available

We have a number of openings for Jam for today (May 11th) and tomorrow (May 12th) that can be scheduled by calling the Cannery @ 801-785-0998. All of the signups for Jam will be taken offline later today. When the signup says “THIS SIGNUP IS CURRENTLY CLOSED” you must call the Cannery @ 801-785-0998 to cancel your shift or check for shift availability.

Remember: We have the gift boxes that holds two pints of jam. Some have used them to put in a pint of jam and a loaf of bread. Great gift idea. They will also work for the salsa and spaghetti sauce pints. You do not need to be scheduled for family canning to purchase the boxes. They are 50 cents each.

All of the Salsa days still have openings.

Family Canning Salsa/Spaghetti Sauce

The signups for Salsa and Spaghetti Sauce will open on May 7th @ 6:05 a.m. (That’s right! You can sleep an extra 5 minutes!!! No need to say Thank You.)

- There will be a limit of 6 cases per person for each product and both products will cost $15.00/case of 12 pint jars (16 oz).
- You are only allowed to sign up for one shift per person.
- If you are not ordering the full limit, please only schedule one person per household to be fair to others.
- If you are helping a 2nd person sign up, it must be under a different name. Duplicate registrations (2nd entry with the same name) will be deleted so others will have the chance to sign up.

Please pay special attention to the FDA rules on how to dress for your shift. Prices at LDS canneries show inflation for food up between 11 and 49%

Price inceases on April 4th at the LDS canneries show inflation up between 11 and 49% for many basic food staples. These rise in prices are a strong barometer for the overall economy since the LDS facilities are usually the last to raise prices for their communities, which provides food in bulk that they can collect through their vast networking operations.
According to the new price list from April 4th, many food staples have increased by more than 20% since the last price list came out just 3 months ago on January 3rd.

LDS churches and organizations have long been at the forefront in preparedness for families and communities. As one of the wealthiest corporations in the world, their network of companies and church affiliations allow them access to cheaper food sources, and the capacity to store them for long periods of time through their canning facilities.
As the government and Federal Reserve continues to tell the American people that inflation is low, and contained by their monetary policies, the real barometer of inflation in the economy comes from the grocers, markets, and institutions that deal with food sales and production, and must monitor prices daily as commodities continue to climb.
The LDS's raising food prices at their canneries by 11 to 49% in just three months should be a serious wakeup call to all Americans on the true inflationary conditions that exist in our economy, and that we need to constantly look outside government reports for the true data affecting our spending and finances.

It is critical, as heads of households, we do our part to ensure our family can support itself if left for several days on our own. This month's article is a detailed suggestion of the best time of year to purchase grocery items and supplies which if followed will help us be more prepared for an emergency.

GROCERY SALES BY SEASON
In general, grocery and household items have a particular time of year when they go on sale. Some are
quite obvious with the seasons, but others are not so obvious. Follow these guidelines and you can start acquiring your pantry items over an extended period of time without breaking your family’s budget.

We want as many people as possible to have a chance to get on the schedule. We also ask that if you become aware of schedule conflicts, please remember to UNDO your shift so others will be able to come.

We know this is a little ahead of schedule, but we still have to finalize our fruit order—so we need you to look ahead and sign up quickly if you want to participate.

The online sign-ups for Strawberry and Marion Blackberry Jam will open on Saturday, April 2nd at 6:00 a.m. We will be processing on May 10th-13th. Each flavor of jam comes in a case of 12 pint jars. Strawberry Jam will cost $18.60/case and Marion Blackberry Jam will cost $25.20/case. There is a combined limit of 6 cases. (Example: 4 cases strawberry + 2 cases marionberry = the 6 case limit. OR 6 cases strawberry + 0 cases marionberry = 6 case limit.)

Everyone knows that strawberry jam is wonderful; but for those who have never tasted the Marionberry Jam, we lovingly call it the “celestial kingdom jam”--so don’t miss out! (smiling)
To help you plan ahead, we will tell you that jam has a “best by” date of 3 years but will store on the shelf for a long, long time. We also rotate the flavors every other year. So, next year—IF we have time to offer jam (depending on our welfare assignments for the Church)--we probably won’t be doing these two flavors.

The Cannery always wants to work at full capacity, so please offer any unwanted cases to someone who isn’t able to come and work a shift. Have them pay you for their cases and you pay the Cannery. (We can not accept payment from those who don’t actually come to work at our facility.) Also, until we see how quickly sign-ups will fill up, please do not schedule multiple people from the same household if you are not ordering more than the 6 case limit. This request allows more people to participate.

The Primary theme for this year is “I Know the Scriptures are True.” So please make sure your primary age children come to the party knowing their favorite scripture or scripture hero and why it’s their favorite. They will be written up and put on the primary bulletin board.

Hi Everyone,
We're doing "fine" here. Considering what is going on around us. When the first big quake hit, around 2:45 in the afternoon on Friday, I ran to Gray's room and grabbed him out of his crib. We've had plenty of earthquakes in the 2.5 years we've been here, but this one was huge. Gabe started crying and calling for me --I got him too and we huddled on the stairs away from windows and light fixtures. The two big boys were walking home from school and came in while the house was still shaking. They thought it was exciting. I yelled at them to "GET BACK OUTSIDE!" because I'd just been told if you're outside, you're supposed to stay outside! I sat on the stairs praying: "Please protect my kids, please protect my kids, please protect my kids..." It seemed to last forever (around 5 minutes I've heard) and then the aftershocks just kept coming and coming. They're still coming.

They evacuated the hospital and Doug was able to come home around 4. [I can't tell you what a relief it was to have my whole entire family safe and together. And how upsetting it was/is to think of people all over Japan who have family unaccounted for. It's really hard for me whenever one of the husbands has to leave.]

Since then, the power has been out and we haven't had any heat or access to phones (to the states) or Internet (except Doug getting one e-mail out from the hospital.) Friday evening we moved our friends in with us (Tami and Wes and three kids) since they just shipped all of their stuff to the states in preparation for their move in two weeks. It's been nice to have them around because everyone is on edge and extremely stressed. (And Tami is very cool under pressure! She's amazing. Me, not so much turns out.)

Yesterday (Saturday) they opened the commissary (No lights, cash only) and we grabbed some extra food, water and diapers. Since we have the standard Mormon "food storage" I wasn't too worried about running out of food or water, but I didn't have any spare diapers so was happy to buy three big boxes yesterday for Gray-Gray. (And yes, I bought two big cans of hot chocolate. Priorities, people!)

We went to church for a shortened meeting to take the sacrament and get the news today. All members of the branch have been accounted for and we've heard that all the missionaries in Japan are accounted for also. (Big relief.)

The power is now back on off-base which is how I have Internet access right now. We're at Tami's house. Hopefully it stays on.

I must say it was pretty frustrating to try to get into my email to contact my Mom (who's not answering the phone) and not be able to log in. I decided to try to leave a message for her via my blog which is when I discovered I'd been hacked. I was extremely frustrated and not even remotely thrilled about that! Dear B and C, please PLEASE don't ever hack my blog again. For any reason!!! Also, sometimes you're not funny. This was one of those times.

Anyway, evidently Misawa is going to become the base for rescue operations in nearby prefectures. We were asked at church to see what extra coats, blankets, food and water we can round up to donate to the Japanese people nearby. I feel heart sick thinking of those who've lost homes and loved ones. Although you probably know much more than me, I hear the devastation is extremely great. We were lucky to be so safe on base and grateful our off-base friends and neighbors were okay.

The earthquakes (aftershocks) haven't stopped and I spent all night last night having nightmares about running from collapsing and buckling buildings. The kids are on edge and tantrums are at an all time high. They keep busy playing during the day, but when it gets dark and we have to ration flashlights and candles it gets extra hard to keep the peace.

A few things I've been wanting to tell people and note for the future:

*Get an old school, corded phone. If the power goes out, your cordless wont work. We were lucky to have a corded phone upstairs which helped Doug coordinate with the Branch President to get accountability of church members. (The phones have worked on-base off and on, but we were never able to get a call through to the states.)

*Speaking of accountability, in an emergency, if you're going to leave your house--leave a note on the door saying where you are going so when guys from church or work coming looking, they'll know where you are.

*When the power went out, people off base couldn't get their cars out of their garage. Turns out there is a special crank to use but most of our friends didn't have it or know what it was. Luckily Tami had parked outside and was able to get her kids to our house Friday.

*We've been cooking with our camping equipment. Note to self: Buy a 20 pack of small propane tanks. We've also used our outdoor BBQ (in the cold) and I'm wishing I had a spare tank of Propane for that. (We still don't have power and don't know when it will come back on On Base. Estimates have said 24 hours (we're way past that) to 1 week, to indefinite.)

*Do you have an extra refill of your prescriptions in your 72 hour kit? It's terrifying to imagine running out of the things you take every day. Also, the thought of my kids getting sick and not having enough Children's Advil and/or Tylenol made me pretty nervous until I verified we had some of each.

*For ONCE I was glad to be doing Dave Ramsey yesterday when we had plenty of cash on hand to shop at the commissary. But we also have a cash and yen emergency fund hidden in the house for back-up which was very comforting.

*While I'm making notes to myself: Buy a hand crank wheat grinder and blender! (We have a freezer full of frozen fruit to make smoothies but no way to blend anything.)

*Flashlights are a pain in my butt. All of our stupid Rayovac crappy-**** batteries that I had stored for an emergency, LEAKED! So the flashlights are all slowly dying, being over used by the children, and being misplaced. The best source of light the last two nights has been the pillar candles I've had in the cupboard for fancy table settings. They seem to burn pretty slow and shed a lot of light. I've gone through 3 and have 1 left. Wish I had a 20 pack of those in my 72 hour pack. It would be nice not to worry about running out. Small, light weight, energy efficient lanterns would be nice too.

*Also, my next house will have a wood burning fire place. This all would have been much easier if we could have been warm.

*Also, I'm buying all my kids a down comforter. We have one on our bed and we've been fine at night, but the kids need 20 blankets piled up to stay warm. (Actually, the two big boys each have a two layer fleece blanket which is pretty warm, but unfortunately, they're not very big.)

(Poor little Gray had to spend yesterday in his snow suit to stay warm. The poor little guy must be sensing the stress because he's been quite out of sorts. He's always shivering (even when bundled) and very clingy. The kids are all confused and upset but mostly hanging in there. Like I said, it's been nice to have friends to keep us company.)

Sorry, I'm rambling on and on but I've had all this stress for the last two days and my main way to process is by writing my thoughts down. So I've been going a little nuts feeling so disconnected.

A few more random thoughts:
*The last two days this thought kept running through my head "All are safely gathered in.". I can't express enough how glad I was/am to have my family around me. Please say a prayer for our many many friends with deployed spouses. This is a very stressful time here and it's really sucky for them to be apart. Also, please pray for all the Japanese people who are missing or displaced. So sad.

*We were very blessed on base to have running (freezing cold) water. Off base, sewer lines broke and contaminated the water supply they weren't even supposed to touch it.

*Today we sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" at church. Has a lot of meaning right now.

Okay, there are other people who need to use this computer. Everyone on base is coming off base to try to contact family.

Tami's husband (Pilot) is at work trying to coordinate rescue efforts so I should go down and help her take care of the multitude of children and get everyone some lunch.

Please pray for us (us being everyone in Japan) and if you feel so inclined, find a way to send some warm blankets to people who've lost their homes. Don't know when I'll be back on-line again, but hopefully soon.

Thanks to everyone for your concern. I knew (figured) there were people praying for us back in the states and it helped to think about that.

This week’s recipe: Fudge in a Bag (from Sarah Pollister’s lesson last week)
Ingredients:
3 oz pkg of cream cheese
1 lb box of powdered sugar
2 packets of cocoa mix or 1/2 cup of cocoa
2 tablespoons of butter
2 1 gal zip lock storage bags
Place all ingredients in one of the zip lock bags, close and put it in the next zip lock bag. Give everyone a turn at squishing the bags to mix. Mix until smooth... Enjoy!

We are needing a few more people to help us on Friday, March 18th for a make-up day for family canning. You are eligible to purchase up to 5 cases of BEEF STEW @ $36/case of 24, 14.5 oz cans if you are available to help.

We still need the following help:

8:00 a.m. – 5 people
10:00 a.m. – 2 people
12:00 p.m. - 2 people
2:00 p.m. – 10 people
4:00 p.m. – 9 people

Shifts are 2.5 hours. You must be able to stay for the entire shift!!!!!! Please do not sign-up if you can’t be here for the entire time.

There are a few shifts that have opened up today (Wednesday, February 23): 1 shift @ 2:00 and 3 shifts at 4:00. Please call the Cannery @ 801-785-0998 if you want stew and can come at those times today.

Although we have cancelled the Friday shifts for beef stew, there are still several shifts available on the other days. Both the stew and the meat require a large number of people to process so you have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see all available spots. This stew tastes great and is a really quick meal! I add peas and corn to extend it and have dinner on the table in 10 minutes.

Grass-fed meats improve fat levels Eating moderate amounts of grass-fed meat for only 4 weeks will give you healthier levels of essential fats, according to a 2011 study in the British Journal of Nutrition.
The British research showed that healthy volunteers who ate grass-fed meat increased their blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids and decreased their level of pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids. These changes are linked with a lower risk of a host of disorders, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, depression, and inflammatory disease.
Interestingly, volunteers who consumed conventional, grain-fed meat ended up with lower levels of omega-3s and higher levels of omega-6s than they had at the beginning of the study, suggesting that eating conventional meat had been detrimental to their health.
British Journal of Nutrition (2011) Red meat from animals offered a grass diet increases plasma and platelet N-3 PUFA in healthy consumers. Volume 105, pages 80-89.

Just a quick reminder: Online signups for the current Lindon Cannery, Family Canning opportunities begins Friday, February 4th @ 8:00 a.m.

THERE ARE ALSO A FEW OPENINGS ON CHILI @ 8AM, 2PM, 4PM AND 6 PM FOR TOMORROW’S (FEB 3RD) CHILI FAMILY CANNING. YOU WILL NEED TO CALL THE CANNERY @ 801-785-0998 TO DETERMINE AVAILABILITY AND REGISTER FOR THESE OPENINGS SINCE TOMORROW’S SIGNUP IS ALREADY CLOSED.

Since we have had quite a few who have signed up on our distribution list since we sent out our last email, the following is a repeat of what was sent last week. Those who have already received and understood this email do not need to read any further.

Dear Subscribers,

On Friday, February 4th @ 8:00 a.m. the next signups for family canning will open for registration. Beef Stew will be offered February 22nd – 25th (4 days) and the Canned Beef Chunks/Ground Beef will be offered as combined items on March 2nd-4th and 8th-9th (5 days). You will only need to sign up for one shift to be able to purchase both Beef Chunks and/or Ground Beef. (If you want both beef stew and beef chunks, you will need to go to a beef stew link to register for beef stew and then return to the list of links and select the link for the Canned Beef products and register for the meat. One shift/person/product.) Please pre-plan which days and times you want to schedule. We have very little time between the registration opening and the actual start date. We need signups to happen quickly.

You can go to the www.mysignup.com website right now to preview the details (prices, limits, etc. – subject to change) for each of these signups under the Coming_Soon links (instructions included below). When the links become active on February 4th, there will be a signup link for each day being scheduled. You will need to register for each product that you want to purchase and pay close attention to which day and which shift you are scheduling for.

Please note that when you schedule one shift for “Canned Beef” you will be able to purchase a combined limit of 6 cases for the beef chunks and/or ground beef. (Ex: Beef Chunks: 4 cases + Ground Beef: 2 cases = 6 case limit) It is very important for you to double check your information before you confirm your shift so you are sure what you have ordered. (Remember: the only way to change or verify your information once you are scheduled is to UNDO your shift and reschedule.)

Humanitarian project—The school kit project is ongoing. If you would like to make bags or fill bags, and haven’t already signed up, contact Mary Jane Johnson, Marta Dorner, or Marta Valdizon . If you would like to donate fabric, one yard of sturdy 44/45 inch fabric will make 3 bags, probably not the straps. One yard of 54/56 inch wide fabric should make the bags and straps. Also, if you want to donate money for fabric or school kit supplies, see Mary Jane Johnson.
Lindon Stake Home Gardening Course - 6 week Friday-night series beginning February 4 and running through March 11. The classes will be held at the 1050 E. 200 S. church building at 7 p.m. Home gardening expert and author, E. Gordon Wells, Jr., covers everything from seed selection to a magnificent harvest. Learn recommended varieties, planning, planting, soils, mulching, tilling, weed control, insects and other pests, climate, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and fruit tree culture. Chili

Dear Subscribers,

The signups for Chili on February 3rd are about 65% full and the February 11th shifts are 85% full. We still have openings—mostly 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 pm shifts. These two days are the only time we plan on offering family canning chili for the 2011 year. Our chili costs $30.00/case of 24, 14.5 oz cans, contains beans and ground beef, and is gluten free.

The1st Annual High Priest’s Chili Cookoff Social will be held at the Veteran’s Hall at Lindon Park on Saturday, January 30th, at 6:00 pm. The men are competing for the title of “Chili King” and all the entries will be served for dinner along with the fixin’s.
Humanitarian project—If you would like to provide the “ingredients” for a school kit, look for the signup sheet. The humanitarian committee can provide you with up to 3 school bags and the list to fill them. If you would like to sew bags, that’s great, too. Cannery Scheduling

UPDATE: We will still be scheduling for Thursday, February 3th and Friday February 11th (instead of the 4th) This change helps to ensure that we have enough chili available for all to purchase on the day they come for their shift. There will not be any family canning on Friday, February 4th.

Sabbath Day Activities

Sister Sarah Pollister asked the sisters in RS class to list Sabbath activity ideas. Here they are:

· Brine a chicken Saturday night for an easy cooked meal Sunday.

· Work on personal progress or Duty to God with my children.

· Take a nap with spouse.

· Children stay inside—there are so many together activities or individual projects to do good TV, too.

· Family Home Evening Lesson (give one of our kids several hours to prepare a lesson from the recent General Conference).

· Attend Church

· I like to listen to an organ music program and sew something for someone else (not mending! That’s work! J )

· Work on my own personal progress.

· Watch church DVD’s—J. Smith Papers

· Help make rolls together…amazing what discussions come up.

· Write thank you’s and other notes to friends and family.

· Cook the family meal together.

· Kids play with each other, not friends. Also no video games.

· Read Ensign and next week’s church lessons.

· Visit family, eat together and play games. Bonding timeJ

· Write in journal.

· Call Grandpa and Grandma/visit Grandma

· Have Sunday music playing all day.

· Study for upcoming lessons and make yummy dessert for all to enjoy!

· All sit down for a family dinner and discuss what we learned in our classes that day.

· Eat together and talk about what was learned in Church.

· Play games together and work on spiritual goals.

· One hour quiet time—each person can work on whatever he/she needs.

Sign-ups will open on January 6th @ 6pm to begin scheduling. Kerosene Group Buy Opportunity

Kerosene Fuel, Heater and Stove Group Buy
For the Lindon and Utah county area, I'm in process of ordering 55 Gallon drums of kerosene for emergency heating, cooking and storage use and wanted to pass along this opportunity. Kerosene has been inching up in price but a 55 gallon drum of kerosene is probably lower today than it will be for some time to come.
The price for a 55 drum of kerosene is currently over $325 at a most suppliers I checked with but the current group buy price is ~$270 dollars which will include all costs, taxes and charges delivered to the driveway of your home in the Utah county area. You will however, need to provide the muscle to move it to it's final storage space at your home.

This group buy also includes kerosene heaters. There are two models available; one is a larger heat output 23,000 BTU convection heater for $133 each and the other is a radiant 10,600 BTU heater for $121. Optional extra wicks will be available for $13 each. You should get at least one extra and two for good measure.
The larger convection heater is the CV-2230 and the radiant heater is the CTN-110 both discussed here: http://www.endtimesreport.com/kerosene_heaters.html One of the advantages of this model of convection heater over those at Lowes or Home Depot is that it uses an "unpinned" wick which allows the wick to be trimmed and reused a few times without having to replace the whole wick. I still recommend getting a couple extra wicks for the heater for long term storage. A radiant heater however maybe the primary heater to start with, it is much more fuel efficient than a convection heater and will keep a room maintained at a good temperature without over heating it. A convection heater at 23,000 BTU will quickly get a room very warm and you will find that you may have to stop and start it to maintain the temperature balance. A convection heater is great for getting a room or home warm in the morning and then a radiant heater used throughout the day to keep it comfortable.

Why Kerosene for backup heating?A number of years ago Tim Woolf (our regions preparedness specialist) gave a preparedness fireside in our ward and discussed the various emergency heating alternatives available. Kerosene was recommended because it burns clean without a vent (though a window should always be cracked in the room the heater is in), it is one of the most energy dense fuels meaning you need less of it to provide the same amount of heat compared to other fuels which also means less room and space to store enough fuel to last for a heating season. Kerosene does not store forever but it will last in storage for a good number of years with a fuel stabilizer added which some put at 10-20 years if not longer. Bro. Woolf recommended two 55 gallon drums of kerosene and a heater to last a good Utah winter for heating purposes. You will need to add more kerosene if you plan on using it with a kerosene cook stove/oven, lamps etc. If it's a long winter you are preparing for then three drums would be my recommendation. Most city fire codes allow 200-300 gallons of kerosene to be stored on your premises.
Kerosene is arguably one of the better storage fuels. It is an oil and doesn't instantly ignite like gasoline. Kerosene is classified as a Class II "combustible" liquid not a "flammable" liquid (like gasoline) because kerosene’s flash point is above 100 degrees and below 140. You still need to be cautious with kerosene but it's much less hazardous than storing gasoline, propane and other fuels like Coleman white gas which can ignite with a spark. Kerosene doesn't vaporize readily or instantly ignite like the other fuels mentioned which makes it a much safer fuel to store.

To avoid smell and fumes a kerosene heater should be started and stopped outside as well as filling of the tank on your kerosene appliance. Purchase a good funnel to prevent the kerosene from dripping on the outside of the appliance. A drum hand pump is available for $40 to help remove the kerosene from the drum but a siphon pump will also work.

But I have a fireplaceAs a comparison between kerosene and wood, two 55 gallon drums of kerosene will provide roughly the equivalent amount of BTU's as a 4x4x8 stack/cord of pine or fir wood (hard woods have more BTU potential). The difference however comes when the fuels are burned. A good kerosene heater burns at 99.9% efficiency so you get close to complete conversion of your kerosene fuel into heat. A typical fireplace burns wood at 40%-50% efficiency with most of the heat going up the chimney. A good airtight high efficient wood stove is about 70%-85%+ efficient and will help convert more of the wood's BTU potential into heat. But depending on how you burn the wood you will need over two cords of wood to match the same heat output that two 55 gallon drums of kerosene and a good kerosene heater provide. Good dry firewood runs about $120-$200 a cord this year (according to KSL classifieds). You could store 8 drums of kerosene in the same space as a single cord of wood and you don't have to chop it either. Three or four 55 gallon drums will handle a cold Utah winter.

Kerosene for CookingTwo different kerosene cook stoves a 16 wick and a double 10 wick are available in this group buy. Either of these stoves can also be used with an optional Oven that can be placed over top the stoves burner to give you a baking option. Note that the oven doesn’t have an automatic temperature regulator so you have to watch the heat output of the stove to keep the oven at the correct temperature. Kerosene is one of the few fuels that is suitable for indoor use as a cooking fuel. So if you are storing fuel for backup heat you may also want to consider using it as a cooking option.

Kerosene Support Products
Along with the kerosene, I will also be ordering the kerosene fuel stabilizer PRI-D which will help lengthen the amount of time kerosene can be stored. It can be added to the drum of fuel after the kerosene been delivered and can also be added in the future when you start to use the kerosene. A pint of PRI-D treats 255 gallons of kerosene and will cost about $23/pint. Also a Mr Funnel fuel filter is available which filters water and other "floaties" from fuels. Water can collect inside a drum or container of fuel and if it makes it into the tank of a heater or other wicked appliance can prevent the wick from working correctly.

A drum pump is a good item to have to help get the kerosene out of the 55 gallon drum into a more manageable container.

Bishop Madsen spoke to the RS sisters about Wills, Trusts. Bro. Buckner instructed us on Financial Planning. The leftovers from the "Bring 'n Take" were delivered to the organizers of the Mexico and Navajo Nation Humanitarian and Service project. Fall treats were served.

ESTATE PLANNING CHECKLIST

I have made a will that names and executor of my estate.
My will includes guardianship of my minor children.
I have included specific bequests of non-titled assets in my will.
I have a Revocable Living Trust to ensure that my assets will be used for my care and welfare.
I have a Durable Power of Attorney for my finances and health care.
I have a Directive to Physicians in regards to Life Support circumstances.
I have told my heirs, trustees, conservator, etc where my planning documents and financial documents are.
I have made sure not to place my children's names on my assets so that I don't place my assets in jeopardy based on the negligence of my children.
I have outlined my Procedures at Death (funeral, contact information, etc.)
I have ensured that my home and other titled assets are in the name of our trust or other planning documents.

Come and learn from this financial expert who is a faculty member at the BYU School of Management. He will share ideas about financial communication in marriage, budgeting, teaching youth about financial responsibility, and other timely and relevant financial topics!!

Julie Palmer works with a committee for the Festival of Trees. If anyone of 16 years old is interested in volunteering during the festival as a host/hostess please get in touch with her. This involves a three or four hour shift monitoring an area within the festival, greeting guests, answering questions, etc. It is a lot of fun and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Also if anyone is interested in donating hand crafted items to the festival these items will be sold at the “craft store” within the festival. All hand crafted items are welcome and some things I have seen sold are: handmade cards, jewelry, blankets, quilts, Christmas decorations, neighbor gifts, etc. If you are interested please get in touch with Julie.

We have a new food storage idea that we are going to try. Our main goal is to "practice" storing potatoes and see if we can keep them through the winter. We don't use a lot of potatoes now but that will probably change in the future in difficult times.

If you would like to participate in this Potato Buy we will take all orders to Alpine Food Storage on Sept. 20. We will also bring the potatoes back to our garage when they are ready. Many of us in the Lindon Stake were reminded last month that the unexpected does happen. The area above 1200 east was put on alert to boil our tap water for a few days. In some homes the water looked like it had just been bucketed out of a dirty ditch. The City repaired the spring runoff problem quickly but we could not use the public water supply for about 2 days.

For those in the affected area that were prepared, this event was just a mild inconvenience and a chance to practice using our preparedness supplies. If you were boiling water or running to the grocery store for bottled water you were unprepared. Consider the scenario if this had been a bigger emergency like a large scale earthquake. The grocery stores still open would be emptied of bottled water and food in a few hours. Power and natural gas service would likely be out and you would not able to boil water on the cook top. With this recent Lindon City water problem as a reminder we want to review some plans for – Emergency Water Storage

The most recent message from the First Presidency says, “Store drinking water for circumstances in which the water supply may be polluted or disrupted.” The minimum recommendation in the past has been to store 1 gallon per person per day for 14 days. This is just enough water to survive but not enough for things like washing dishes, sanitation, showering, laundry, pets, etc. The average American uses more that 50 gallons of water a day. We have put together a list of some ideas we have tried and some suggestions from water treatment experts.

1. The first thing you will probably need is an easy and simple source of clean drinking water. Cases of bottled water from the grocery store are our first suggestion. Rotate and use them so that they are not more than a year old.

2. Large barrels made of thick polyethylene plastic approved for water storage are readily available. We use 55 and 30 gallon barrels for most of our water storage. We use 5 gallon jugs that are easy to move around for cooking and hand washing. The siphon tubes work better than the hand pumps for removing water from 55 gallon barrels. Remember to use white RV hoses and not garden hoses that may be contaminated for filling the barrels. Store water in a cool, dark and dry location. Plastic water containers placed on concrete may take on a concrete taste over time. Place your water on wood and away from substances like kerosene and pesticides.

3. Supplies of paper plates, cups, utensils, napkins and garbage bags will save a lot of water and will simplify meals in an emergency.

4. Your home has other sources of water – water heater, water lines, toilet tanks (not bowls) beverages, canned fruits in water or juice, and ice. Swimming pools can be used for hygiene purposes but may have chemicals in the water that could be harmful for drinking.

Emergency Water Treatment
When the home water supply is interrupted by a disaster there are several possible dangers in the water.

Protozoa are the largest pathogens in drinking water. The two most common are Giardia lambria (Giardia) and Cryptosporidium (Crypto). They range in size from 2-15 microns but can squeeze through smaller openings. Filters with an absolute pore size of 1 micron should be used.

Medium sized Bacteria are responsible for many diseases such as typhoid fever, cholera, diarrhea, and dysentery. Pathogenic bacteria range in size form 0.2 to 0.6 microns. A 0.2 micron filter is necessary to prevent transmission.

Viruses are the smallest pathogens and range in size from 0.02 to 0.03 microns and are too small to be filtered out by a mechanical filter.

Chemicals like heavy metals, salts, fuels, and other pollutants can also be a danger in the water.

1. Clarify or filter dirty water to remove floating or suspended particles before disinfecting. Filter by pouring water through coffee filters, paper towels, or cloth. Filter bags or socks are available that will filter down to 1 micron. These bags will filter thousands of gallons of water.

2. Boiling is recognized as the safest method to purify and disinfect water of all pathogens. Most experts feel that if the water reaches a rolling boil it is safe. Some still hold out for maintaining the boiling for some length of time, 1- 10 minutes. Boiling does not remove contaminates such as heavy metals, salts, and most chemicals.

3. Chlorine Bleach such as ordinary household bleach (Clorox) must have 5.25% or 6% sodium hypochlorite and contain no soap, scents, colorings, or phosphates. Bleach is unstable and starts to diminish in strength after 6 months and can lose half of its strength after one year. Normal dosage is 8 drops (0.4ml) per gallon in clear water and 16 drops per gallon in cloudy water. Stir and allow the treated water to sit for 30 minutes, if there isn’t a slight chlorine smell, retreat.

4. Iodine emerged as a water purifier after WWII. Iodine was found to be in many ways superior to chlorine in treating small batches of water. Long term exposure to low levels of iodine has been proven safe. Nevertheless, experts are reluctant to recommend iodine for long term use. Iodine is normally used in doses of 8 ppm to treat clear water for a 10 minute contact time. Cloudy water needs twice as much iodine or twice as much contact time. If no instructions are provided on the container, use 12 drops per gallon of water. Mix well and allow the water to stand 30minutes. Water treated with iodine can have a bad taste removed by treating the water with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) after the water has stood for the correct treatment time.

5. Mechanical filters - Small portable camping filters like the Katadyn or MSR only screen out particles down to a certain size. Larger gravity filter devices like the Big Berkey or Aqua Rain use carbon filters. Know the limitations of the individual filter. These might need to be combined with a chlorine treatment to kill the small viruses.

6. Distillation, pasteurization, chlorine crystals, Polar Pure, solar/UV light, and stabilized oxygen are a few other less common ways to treat water.

The Stake Provident Living Specialist, Julie Bryner, sent me the following information about purchasing pears for canning.
If you are interested in purchasing pears please give your money to Karen Smith by July 15th. The pears are $24 a box.
Here are a few particulars, first, on the pears:
---They are Bartlett Pears----awesome for canning!
---They are guaranteed to be 2 1/4" to 3" in diameter.
---They are 'field picked' so they may have a few small blemishes that are easily peeled off, and don't affect the flavor. (We didn't notice any such blemishes last year!)
---They will be picked during the last 2 weeks of August and the first week of September, and kept in a cooler until we get them. (Last year, we had plenty of time ---10-14 days ---to get around to canning them.)
Due to the likelihood of a smaller crop this year, we're going to open this order up early and get it turned in as soon as possible. Here's how it will work:
--- The order deadline is August 1, 2010----although we will accept modifications up to 2 days prior to delivery.
---Delivery will be the last 2 weeks of September---we will email with specific dates later.
---These will be 40-44 lb boxes. (Last year we got 36 lb boxes)
---They will be $24 per box. (That's about 55¢ per lb!)
---If your group puts together a minimum order of 50 boxes, we will deliver pears to your home (or designated area of your choice)--as long as you're within 10-15 minutes off of I-15.
---If you'd like to do a group order but don't think you can quite make the minimum, please call us, we'll try to group you with others in your area.
