Ladies Night Out is coming soon!
Mark your calendars for Friday, October 14th from7-10 pm at the Stake Center. There will fun activities for everyone. If you would like to have a chance to sit and catch up with friends, it’s a perfect time for that, too. Signups are in the binder today. Come enjoy any or all of the following: Easy Gifts in a Jar, Corn bags to warm your feet or other parts on a cold evening, Card Crafting Fun, Cute coin purses and eyeglass holders, crocheted hats, quilt tying, Easy Bread Machine Dough (can be used for cinnamon rolls, loaves, dinner rolls, focaccia, and pizza pull-aparts), or bring your own unfinished project to work on. Not only that, but there will be a bring and swap for stuff you don’t want and for stuff you do want. Save your unneeded items and bring for someone else to use. You can make your own caramel apple and try lots of samples, too.

We will continue to work on hygiene kits until the end of October. Thanks so much for your help.
Place the following items in a heavy duty, one-gallon sealable bag—please remove the air before sealing.
2 unbreakable combs (without sharp handles, sturdy)
4 toothbrushes (sealed--not childrens’)
1 tube toothpaste (6-8 ounces, no pumps)
2 bars of soap (3.5-5 ounces each)
2 hand towels (approx. 15 x 25 inches, new)
Dishtowels and washcloths are NOT acceptable! Try the dollar stores for soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste—even combs—check the sizes listed above. They sometimes have hand towels—be careful, check the quality! No dishtowels! Costco has a dozen white towels for a reasonable price.
Towels can be any color or design, except military, flags, etc.
Please turn in COMPLETED KITS to Marta Dorner, Ursula Valdizan, or Mary Jane Johnson (796-7449).

Ward Choir! The calendar may say September but for the ward choir, Christmas is right around the corner! Now meeting at a new time (3:00 p.m.) but in the same place (Sorensen’s basement – 975 E. Center St.) and sporting a new director (Lisa Harris), the fun is definitely back with Christmas preparations already underway. Everyone is welcome! (No practice today or next week. Next practice will be on Oct. 9.) Many thanks to our former director, Marilee Olson, for her wonderful direction and encouragement!

Recipe on the blog: Cocoa Popcorn Crunch. Check http://bohemianrevolution.com/44-popcorn-treat-recipes for 43 more popcorn recipes.

If you have announcements you want in the RS bulletin, please email lisecarpenter1@gmail.com by Friday night. Also, if you want a handout passed around, please give 4 copies to me and I’ll put them in the binders before RS and Primary.

Coin Purse and Eye Glass Case Patterns

The coin purse pattern was on the display in the hall on Sunday.
OK, Here's a link to the coin purse pattern in Google Docs:) Coin Purse Pattern

Coin Purse Tutorial

Cut 2 outer pieces and 2 lining pieces. Mark notches.

Puffy: Fold pleat along fold line matching dotted lines. Stitch 1/2" inwards along dotted line. Fold the two pleats inwards and baste close to edge. Repeat for other side of purse and for both lining pieces.

Sew the lining pieces, RS together, with a 1/4" seam allowance along bottom curve, leaving the top open. Repeat for outer pieces.

Clip the curves so that the piece turns nicely.

Turn the outer piece RS out and finger-press the seam to let the piece find its shape.

Insert lining into the outer purse, WS togeter, and with a small zig-zag, stitch along raw top edge attaching the outer piece to the lining.

How cute is that?!? Now make a few more, or wait until we meet on October 14 to add the frame to your purse!
