Favorite Things!

Last night's Relief Society meeting was fun and informative. Thank you dear sisters for sharing your favorite things. YOU are my favorites and I treasure the times we share together!

I made a list of the favorites shared:
  • Laurie's secret to her eyelashes - extensions! But the twinkle in her eye - well, that just can't be shared - you have to get your own.
  • Lisa J's Corn Bread recipe, her favorite color is green/spring/hope!
  • Marilyn's trick for cleaning silk plants - aerosol scrubbing bubbles
  • Jill's scrapbook paper find - scrapbuck.com
  • Karen D's top secret trimmer - Panasonic Vortex through Amazon, twistie turban, the "magic" treasure box, and her quick Sunday dinner roll recipe
  • Jeannine's pineapple peeler, corer, slicer
  • Julie's moist lips come from Burt's Bees, she also shared her grocery shopping list - which explains how she stays organized and efficient
  • Karen S' favorite brownie recipe is Jennifer and Karen's brownie recipe in the ward cookbook. Karen also loves greased lightening for cleaning grease based messes, Apron-ology, she has a favorite potter who makes containers for her favorite knitting needles, and Peter Reinhart's bread baking book
  • Janice's favorite composer is Bach
  • Marla's favorite mechanic is The Torque Shop. Other favorite mechanics that were mentioned - Greg Scott and Brian Buckner.
  • Libby shared her obsession with binder clips and how there are countless ways to use them in your closet, your pantry, even keep some in your car
  • jNae shared why apron's are so handy, her favorite jam-Apricot, and pickled beets - oh, that sounds wrong - it isn't Apricot/pickled beet jam - those are two separate favorites
  • JaNae showed her treasured back scratcher tool - with telescoping handle, and a lettuce knife that keeps the lettuce from browning when cut
  • Stephanie told us that the secret to delicious lemon bars - Jennifer's recipe in the ward cookbook. The secret to clean toilets is the cleaner that has the crooked neck so it reaches to squirt up in the hard to get to place. And Mary Kae mascara, soothing eye cream, and eye make-up remover are her secret to looking refreshed and youthful!
  • Marie R's tip will save money when purchasing your movie tickets online - a Cinemark gift card. Her favorite treat - Russell Stover Easter chocolate marshmellows!
  • Mary H keeps a little pink shovel with telescoping handle in her car for emergencies or to search for treasured flowers in forests. La Carreta is on her list for favorite lunch stops and the sisters in the room added that the grapefruit chicken is a must try.
  • Bev's secret to soft feet is Amlactin. She applies it while lounging in her favorite PJ's from Costco.
  • Thaylene loves True Blue Spa lotion for her dry skin while nibbling on Almond Kisses.
  • Jessica's nighttime ritual involves Skinny Cow chocolate treats washed down with a Diet Dr. Pepper. I will have to track her down for her mother-in-law's famous chocolate chip cookie recipe.....
  • Marilee shared her recipe for cheesy smashed potatoes - the secret ingredient - CAULIFLOWER!
I will get the recipes posted later today.......

Why aprons and my mom are my favorites!

Each time I put on an apron, my uniform, I am reminded of my dear mother and the lessons I learned from her.
She taught me that aprons not only protect your clothes, but can also be used by gathering up the hem in your hands to carry lots of stuff from one room to another, to dust a piano as you walk by, to wipe a child’s runny nose, to fan yourself as you work or to dab the sweat from your brow.
She was always home when I got home from school with her apron on fixing dinner or sewing something beautiful. I knew she loved making home a place where we love to be.
