Humanitarian Opportunity

Dear Sisters,
Recently we have been made aware of a humanitarian opportunity in our own community. The Freedom 2nd ward, in Provo, has the distinction of being the neediest ward in Utah. This struggling ward has several local service missionaries assigned to help provide for both the spiritual and temporal needs of these ward members.

With the holidays approaching, the service missionaries are organizing a project to provide baskets filled with simple gifts for 150(!) very needy families in their ward. They are seeking items to fill these baskets, as well as items to include in Christmas stocking for the children.

As a Relief Society, we will be gathering donations for the Freedom 2nd ward at our Enrichment Night on December 3. Any item(s) from the following list will be greatly appreciated. For more information, or if you would like to do more, contact Kim Sparks.

Maybe I overlooked this in the letter, but do these items need to be new? Would nearly new or barely used be O.K.?
